Peter Cook’s Guitar World was established in 1981 by luthier Peter Cook and Trevor Newman. Peter was most renowned for his custom building and repairs which attracted plenty of work from such established artists as B.B.King, the Damned, Whitesnake, Motorhead and the Who. His services expanded dramatically in the seventies as he developed the Ned Callan range for the Shaftesbury brand and his own groundbreaking Axis range of guitars and basses in the eighties. He also contributed articles to a number of music magazines.

Peter continued his repair service until the late 80s when he left the industry to pursue other interests. Trevor took the reins, and the retail side of the operation expanded quickly as Peter Cook's strived to provide  quality instruments at affordable prices. In the last twenty years Peter Cook’s Guitar World has acquired a comprehensive range of leading musical equipment brands and has exhibited regularly at national guitar shows.

Richard Chong now owns the business, but the staff in the shop remain the same.
