Shipping and Returns
Shipping:

No goods will be shipped until payment has been received in full for both the price of the item and the accordant carriage charges.

The liability in the goods remains that of Peter Cook's Guitar World Limited until the goods are delivered.

Our courier obtaining any signature for the goods at the customer’s nominiated delivery address constitutes delivery of the goods.

The customer assumes liability in the goods on delivery. To that end the goods should be inspected for damage, and any such damage should be reported to us within 24 hours of delivery.

Failure to do so voids any recourse the customer may have to the insurance taken out by Peter Cook's Guitar World Limited on the behalf of the customer with regards to every shipment made by us.

Peter Cook's Guitar World Limited accept no responsibility for consequential loss arising from late delivery, non-delivery, or delivery of goods later found to be damaged in transit.

In case of damage in transit or loss in transit, goods will only be refunded when certified as damaged or missing by our courier.

In the unlikely event that your shipment arrives damaged, please contact Peter Cook's Guitar World Limited within 24 hours of delivery – we will arrange for a collection to be made from you, and for whatever replacement or refund is appropriate to that particular set of circumstances.

Please bear in mind that we entrust your shipment to a third party for delivery, and regardless of how high the success rate of any courier service, employed by any guitar shop, there is always a failure rate. To this extent we will never offer a guarantee that your shipment will arrive on a stated date – we will state that it "should" arrive by a certain date, but not that it "will". We do not advise taking time off work or "staying in" for delivery of a parcel, but would always recommend that you arrange for your shipment to be delivered to an address where you usually are without having to rearrange your schedule.

(1) Returns Policy

NB this returns policy refers only to purchases made on the internet or via mail-order and does not govern the return of in-person, in-store sales.

Your right to cancel

Under the United Kingdom's Distance Selling Regulations, you have the right to cancel the contract for the purchase of any items within a period of 7 working days, beginning with the day after the day on which the item is delivered. This applies to all of our products. However, we regret that we cannot accept cancellations of contracts for the purchase of software, video, DVD and audio where the item has been unsealed. Please note that we are unable to accept cancellation of, or returns for, digital items once downloading has commenced. Otherwise, we can accept returns of complete product, which is unused and in an "as new" condition. Please note that "as new" condition means the condition in which the item was sent to you, we cannot accept returns of goods where there is cosmetic damage caused by negligence, accident, or excessive use. All packaging, power adapters (if applicable), manuals etc. must be returned with the item. All protective cellophone / plastic coverings should remain intact and unremoved on scratchplates, backplates, pickups and pickup covers.

Where an instrument or equipment is returned to us in less than "as new" condition, Peter Cook’s Guitar World Limited reserves the right to levy a restocking charge to the extent of the cost of reconditioning said item, or covering the loss in sale price made in order to sell such an item as "ex-demonstration" stock.

This does not affect your statutory rights.

Please note that you will be responsible for the costs of returning the goods to us unless we delivered the item to you in error or the item is faulty.

If you feel the need to return your purchase under the above terms of your "cooling off " period, we always appreciate a telephone call in advance ( it keeps us from needlessly re-stocking ).

If you choose to return the goods to us you should use a service insured against loss or damage, and ensure that the goods are sufficiently well packaged that the insurance taken out on the parcel will remain valid in the event of any such damage.

If there is no suitable courier service available to you, we can usually arrange for collection of the item from you and charge you accordingly for the service.

You should be aware that, once we begin the collection process, you will not be able to cancel any contract you have with us for services carried out by us.

As soon as the item has been received and checked, we will refund the relevant part of the purchase price for that item.

(2)FAULTY RETURNS:

New guitars and equipment are covered under warranty for 12 months*

(2a)Guitars:

In the event that you find a guitar to be faulty please call us at Peter Cook's Guitar World on 020 8840 1244, many problems that present as faults are often set-up or maintenance issues that we can talk you through.

If it appears that the item does demonstrate a fault we need to get it back from you.

If you purchased the item in store , you need to get it back to us under your own steam.

If you purchased the item, online, via email, or mail-order, we will collect the item from you within the first 12 months of purchase on a new guitar.

After collection, should the instrument not demonstrate a fault, we will charge for collection and return carriage and whatever maintenance / set-up needs carrying out on the instrument.

Where the item does demonstrate a fault – within the first month of purchase we are happy to replace the instrument provided we have a replacement in stock at the same price, and that the item is returned to us in as-new condition.

Items older than one month or not in "as-new" condition will be repaired under warranty and returned to the customer free of charge on a standard weekday courier service.

(2b)Amps / Effects:

Procedure as for guitars as above, except:

Where a fault is found to be down to valves / fuses within the first 3 months of purchase Peter Cook'’ Guitar World Limited will suffer the cost of collection, service and return of the amplifier.

Where a fault is found to be down to valves / fuses outside the first 3 months of purchase Peter Cook's Guitar World Limited will charge for the cost of collection, service and return of the amplifier, the amplifier will be held at Peter Cook’s pending payment of charges before returning the amplifier.

Where a fault is found to be down to mis-use, negligence or failure to maintain the amplifier or equipment, any carriage and repairs will be chargeable.

(2c) it should be noted that many vintage reissue guitars and amplifiers are "warts and all" reissues eschewing comtemporary flawless audio reproduction / playability and easy maintenance for historical authenticity and "grittiness" of tone / sound etc. When ordering equipment based on a vintage design, we would expect that a customer is au fait with the shortcomings of any such piece of equipment. Taking such issues into consideration is the customer’s responsibility prior to purchase. Not all guitars / amplifiers are suitable for all purposes, and the return of equipment due to a lack of suitability is a return on the grounds of preference rather than fault, and thus subject to the terms and conditions applicable to canceling of contract / cooling off period as stated in (1) i.e. only with prior authorisation, within 7 days of receipt of goods, subject to those goods being in "as new" condition and returned to Peter Cook’s Guitar World Limited at the customer’s expense.
